Customs Bonds
Customs Bonds are required by the U.S Customs Service, and come in
various types including Consumption Entry Bonds and Immediate Delivery
Bonds. Anyone importing goods must have a Customs bond to ensure that
imported shipments are paid for. The Customs bond must be in place
before U.S. Customs will clear the shipment.
The current market
This is an unfamiliar bond to many surety agencies. An experienced agent
is required in this situation. Different goods will have different
ratings codes. Not all goods need approval from the FDA and they will
not all be stored in a bonded warehouse either. These factors will have
an impact on the nature and cost of the bond. Ensure your agent knows
all the relevant codes and gives you a bond for the correct one. You
also need to be sure you are getting a competitive premium for the bond
that is to be written. This is why an agent who has experience working
with Customs bonds is vital.
Does your agency have a special program available for Customs bonds?
No, we do not have such a program available at present. |
